Microsoft Lens is gone. Mirino stays.

Microsoft has retired Lens: since 9 March 2026 it can no longer create new scans. As a replacement, Microsoft recommends the OneDrive app. Mirino is the more honest answer: local, no forced cloud, bought once.

What happened

Microsoft began retiring Lens on 9 January 2026 and removed it from the app stores on 9 February; new scans were possible until 9 March 2026. As a replacement, Microsoft recommends the OneDrive app with its built-in scanner. According to Microsoft, it can't save scans locally on the device.

What you're missing now

Local storage: according to Microsoft, OneDrive doesn't save scans locally on the device. Plus a scanner that only scans — not a cloud with a scanner bolted on. And a price you pay once.

How Mirino solves it

Every scan stays on your device — optionally in your iCloud, never on our servers. On-device text recognition, export as PDF or the recognized text as a Word file (without layout), image enhancement. No account, no subscription. $4.99 once.

Why paid is better

Mirino is a paid app by hyperzero, a small studio in Germany. No corporation that simply shuts a service down. You buy once — and it stays yours.
